Cheeseburger Style Smash Tacos
Easy, go-to smash tacos
These smash tacos are what I make when I get home tired and want something good fast. You press meat onto a tortilla, sear it, flip it, add toppings, and you’re done. It takes minute and tastes insane.
INGREDIENTS
Base
Grain-free tortillas (small size preferred)
About 1 lb organic grass-fed ground beef
(or ground chicken, turkey, or veggie mash like sweet potato)
Smash tacosBrown or white onion, finely chopped
Cheese
American-style cheese slices (regular or vegan)
Optional alternatives: smoked gouda, pepper jack
Smash tacos
Seasoning
Spicy salt
Black pepper
Garlic powder
Toppings
Yellow mustard (clean ingredients)
Low-sugar ketchup
Optional low-sugar BBQ sauce
Iceberg lettuce
Pickle de gallo or relish-style pico (Grillo’s)
For Cooking
Olive oil spray (or avocado, coconut oil spray)

Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Total: About 15 minutes
STEPS
Soften tortilla
Warm grain-free tortilla briefly on stove or grill so it’s flexible.Add meat layer
Spread a thin layer of ground meat evenly across tortilla. Don’t overdo it or it won’t fold properly.
Smash tacosTop with onion + cheese
Press chopped onion into the meat. Add small chopped pieces of cheese directly onto meat.Season
Sprinkle spicy salt, black pepper, and garlic powder lightly.Heat pan
Heat pan over medium-high and spray lightly with olive oil.Cook meat-side down
Place tortilla meat-side down in hot pan. Sear for about 30 seconds until browned.
Smash tacosFlip + finish
Flip and cook tortilla side briefly until crisp and meat is cooked through.Build taco
Remove from heat. Add mustard, ketchup, iceberg lettuce, and pickle de gallo.Fold + eat
Fold and serve immediately.
