Understanding Injectables and Aging with Dr Dan Belkin
Natural aesthetic medicine
I sat down with my cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Dan Belkin, and we talk honestly about what I’ve done, how my face has evolved over time, and why subtle always the best. We get into neuromodulators, filler, lasers, skin tightening, surgery, and why seeing a board-certified physician is non-negotiable.
We go through the four main categories in aesthetic medicine: neuromodulators, volume through hyaluronic acid and biostimulatory fillers like Sculptra and Radiesse, skin tightening treatments like radiofrequency and ultrasound, and lasers for tone and texture. We also talk about dissolving filler before my facelift, how my treatment strategy changed after surgery, and why placement matters more than quantity.
One of the most interesting parts is the idea of the “valley of the uncanny,” how even a millimeter in the wrong place can make someone look slightly off. That’s why subtle, strategic work is key. We also get into why I shifted from widening my face to enhancing my cheek placement in a more feminine way, and why I keep my lips very conservative.
Most importantly, we talk about doing your homework, seeing qualified doctors, and treating this as real medicine. This is not something you rush or do because you saw it on TikTok.
